Polo cut out after Kangeroo-ing and would not start on Saturday 28th December. Towed it home and had these codes from Snap On scanner:
00529 rpm info missing No signal intermittant.

00519 Manifold Absolute Pressure SNS-G71 Not a plausible signal

00282 Throttle pos Actuator V60 Short with Ground.

Looked at it today and tested feed to Distributor pin 1 and 3 and got almost battery voltage. Cranked with coil lead off and nice spark. Cranked with plug out and connected to lead..Good spark.
Sprayed a bit of easy start in Throttle body and it started. Ran fine till it warmed up a bit and has bad missing on hard acceleration(new Good leads and plugs fitted very recently)
Checked codes after missing badly on acceleration and "no codes stored"

Looked up codes on autodata and it says that 00529 is distributor(crank sensor)

Thinking of going with distributor?? Any other suggestions???

GKM24, Sorry for renewing this old post but did you ever solve your problem. This seems to be the same fault I have.

One point, on early stuff ignore the missing G40 signal if the engine is not running, it is a small silvery fish of the red tinged variety....
