    Just thought I'd share this:

Previous tyres were 16 inch Bridgestone ER300's, between 4.5 and 5mm all round and in OK condition. Given last years inclement weather and the family using the car all the time (including son who has just passed) I considered whether winters might be an option.

Then saw new Hankook Optimo 4seasons V rated (same as original) and 94XL load rating for £67 each delivered from tyres online @ mytyres.co.uk:. Got an Indie tyre place to fit and balance them (£7.50 each/£30 for the set), and the amount of grip in all temperatures is excellent, especially in the wet. They really inspire confidence, are quieter and the car feels so planted.

I suspect wear might be higher, but hey I ain't complaining!

I haven't tried all season tyres before, but had VReds winter extreme ultras on my last car, these were classed as a winter tyre, the wife also had a set on her Audi A4 cab. They were fantastic in the snow. We both changed cars last month and left the winters on them as they were different rim sizes than our present cars, so may try all seasons in the future, we didn't notice excessive wear on the winters and I kept mine on year, as I never got around to changing them back last April.

we got ours from the TYREMEN site

Thanks for that. I understand that the compound is in between the Winter and summer variants, and some people say that are OK all purpose tyres - not as good as winter tyres in winter, and not as good as summer tyres in summer, but at the price I paid, they seemed like a bargain and so far they feel excellent (both in low temperatures, and +10 deg), especially in the rain we've had.

i had a set of those on my previous b6 passat.

Very good imo. Actually wore slower than previous brigestone summers as well. I'd done 20k miles on them when i sold it and even the fronts were only half worn.
