I sold an item on ebay at the beginning of December postage was high @ 24.00 however the buyers emails were setting off alarm bells so I sent it signed for at a cost of 30.00. Today I got an invoice from fleabay asking for 10% of the postage fees! Batsards greedy batsards. A percentage of the sale a cut from paypal and now they expect people to post at a loss? Gumtree and preloved seem better looking bets now, cash sale buyer collects etc

they might have got big but its from advertising rather than high fees. once their customer base drops the advertisers walk away and bye bye ebay. facebook, now there is another option. selling groups popping up all over the place. easy to join and free to use and you can sell anything in your local area. you just join facebook but you don't have to do any more, like talking to people, just make the account and thats it. there are at least 20 in my area alone.

Their excuse for doing this is that some sellers are charging high postage and low item costs to fee dodge

This is bs an really unfair to people who follow the rules

It won't impact them as people will just put their postage up by 10% to cover so the buyers will lose out as everything will be 10% more expensive

They told me I can "avoid" the commission on post and packing if I front load the postage cost and advertise the item I'm selling as "free post" So in this case I'd have added 24.00 the starting price which they'd have 10% of anyway. Anyone that has used the postage calculator knows you'd have to charge huge postage if you offer worldwide shipping on a heavy item. Listing fees are higher if the starting price is higher. I wish I'd have thought of eBay....
