    Hi,
I've have had a problem with my 2005 Golf V 1.6 fsi for a while now, I have been to a couple of mechanics who do not know what the problem could be.
The problem only used to happen every so often but is now full time.
The car starts up and is fine while idle and does not drive lumpy or any odd noises but drives with a big loss of power, almost like fuel starvation. The engine check light is on with a code P0191 (OBDII and VAG-COM) which should mean a fault with the fuel rail pressure sensor. I replaced the sensor along with the fuel filter and spark plugs but to no success. The first mechanic I saw told me it could be faulty wiring to the sensor but all seems to be fine there after having checked it but but didn't know what else it could be.
I then went to a second mechanic who was certain it was the low pressure fuel pump but after having replaced that, the problem persists. He has advised me to see a car electrician but before I go, I wondered if anyone else has or has had this problem and if they managed to find and fix it. Thank you!

If it is a BLF, BLN or BLP code engine, have the high pressure head mounted pump removed including its tappet and you may find the centre of the tappet is worn through. This normally destroys the exhaust camshaft and damages the pump spring cap.
