    Hello everyone,

I have a 2002 1.9 tdi avf 130 which is having problems. When the weather gets really cold (below 0 degrees) the car will just turn over for at least 30 seconds then it will slowly come to life, cough and splutter, dump a lot of white smoke and then idle. The idle isn't erratic but it shakes the whole car and seems to misfire. I've checked it over with vcds and there's no fault codes but in measuring blocks 13 injector 2 is +2.9 and injector 4 is -1.6.

A fair bit of work has been done to the engine including timing belt, new cam, injector wiring harness , coolant sensor, cleaned egr and the injectors have been sent away for testing and all came back fine.....any ideas peeps?

    Cheers,

Sounds like lack of preheat. Check your glowplugs have power when you turn on the ignition from cold. If they have power then check there is current drain to each one.

Coolant temperature sensor is it genuine? Spurious ones are useless. Also check the loom for the injectors

The glow plugs are new and are all getting good voltage. It isn't a genuine coolant temperature sensor isn't genuine so I'll get another one this week. It seems to me that the fuel is draining back hence the long cracking?

Re: Glow plug checks, its the current draw that will show you if the plug is working correctly.
