Whooshing Sound!

Hi - I've got a 2001 130 tdi that I am very happy with. I've got the problem that a lot have with the alarm sounding intermittently after locking the car but I can live with this as the car is superb!

However the car is now making a whooshing sound from the engine bay when it gets over about 2500 rpm. It's audible inside the car and louder when the passenger window is open. When my wife drives awy from our house it's very loud from outside.

There doesn't appear to be any drop in performance or increase in fuel consumption.

Any ideas anyone?

This should be the down pipe from the turbo,the pipe rubs on the earth lead and cuts into the rubber,you normally develop black smoke from the exhaust as the air intake is reduced.I did say could be

Is it easy to access this pipe?

If you remove the engine under tray its located on the os,you will see it with the cover off,also use a second person to rev the engine as the intercooler clips have a tendency of breaking and allowing the pipes to move which would also cause the whoosh
