But Jim £15k..seriously that's way too much, and having a jag with oatmeal interior I'd now never go for anything that wasn't black

Am sure you can get a similar/better spec'd XJ with that mileage for £5k less just involves a little travelling..I think my XK was a 270 mile round trip whe bought back in 2005.

Talking porn, my XK was from launch until 2001 voted in the top 5 sexiest cars on the road and I still ocassionally get phone numbers written in lipstick left on the glass (a complete bugger to get off!). Proving there are still plenty of car w*ores out there

nice car, but that french engine. yes its quick ish, but seriously, an oil burning jag, get real. if anything breaks on that lump its like a 4k bill at least, and if you drive a jag then it needs to run on petrol, have at least 4 litres and a blower.

    Nice looking car there Jim.

Your A6 is now up to scratch following the recent works, it should fetch a tidy sum on the private market.

I'm curious to know what's stopping you jumping ship - better the devil you know?

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

    Thanks guys, appreciate the comments.

Haven't done much more than look right now to be honest, just drooling as we speak....lol

Mark - thanks for the comments and yes, I do hear you, but, I'd be prepared to pay a little extra for the right car, with plenty of history, paperwork, warranty etc.

Zollaf - Yeah I know all about the petrol Jags and would love one but just couln't afford the upkeep, primarily the fuel bills...lol

Jag were kind enough to give me a day out a year or so ago and I cut about in the XKR 5.0 Supercharged V8's....A coupe and a convertible, stunning cars, absolutely stunning...

Both had speedpack enabled meaning 0-60 is about 4.2 secs and takes the limiter off, so 174mph available!!

How much fun can you have in a day when someone else is paying the fuel bills??...lol

Also was lucky enough to have a few hours in the new XJ 3.0D on the same day.....again a great car, but the older style appeals to me a little more, a little classier I think

Anyhow, dream over here's the XJ I was looking at with my plate just for fun....really tempting.

Sam - Yeah , you're right, the A6 is up to scratch now, MOT due in around April and not expecting anything too untoward and I know her backwards from day dot. She costs me very little to run these days too, so yes, there is an attraction there.

Could be a case of better the devil you know an all that as you say.........

The upside is I run a Jaguar forum, so have access to all sorts of TSB's, cheap fixes, problem solving capabilities etc etc, so no real downside there either.

    Its kinda potato / potatoe...lol

If you are past 50 Jim I'd say *** myself and get one as long as you aren't struggling, I've always been one who knows the end can be 5 minutes away at any time so when I see something I want I go for it 99% of the time, I did it many years ago buying a V6 Omega auto for a shed of money simply because I wanted it, I saw it, I loved it and it made me feel I was rewarding myself for what had gone before, I got so much flak at work over that car (back stabbing actually), 16mpg urban while the oilers were getting 35-40mpg urban but in the end it came down to balls, I had them they didn't and it made them all feel about as small time as they actually were, every punter used to remark on how nice it was and being the best taxi they'd ever ridden in etc, the tips used to turn my 16mpg into 30mpg in reality and I spent the night driving effortlessly while they spent it working a stick listening to brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rr all night,

If you want it go get it, to hell with the cost, to hell with whether you need it, all that counts is you want it.

p.s, I'd look at an XF type myself, my mate has one for airport work and it's quite a beast, 3.0 is better than 2.7 btw both on power and economy.

Well, not past 50 yet DSG, but damn close....lol

I think the key to say to 'ell with it, is to not say it and act on it too often, but every now and then is ok.

I'm just trying to work out if I'm at a Now or a then moment....lol

I love the XKR but I would have the XFR it has the same engine 5.0 super charged 500 plus BHP and the sound makes you have a trousers moment. I come inches away from buying one last year and they wanted my car plus 20k the jag. It was only 6 mths old and up for 45k. But 2 things desided it for me not to buy the first was would I end up losing my licence and the second was the money I would lose to 2-3 years. But and it's a big but want a car it made my 11 plate A6 feel like a old cortina
