Well, went to use the car today, dashboard has completely failed.

The whole instrument panel is dead, no speedo, rpm, gauges, MFD.

If the whole thing has failed, this is pretty worrying for a 18 month old car.

Going in to VW tommorow, hope it's something simple, but we'll see.

    Not very happy!

I had a similar thing in my Omega, fix was the main engine fuse, no idea where it's located on a Passat but it's a 20-50amp one, a big boy fuse.

Europa25 did you get the dash repaired and if so what was the cause of the fault?

    Hi Guyz, Thanks for replies...

Car went in and back within 24 hrs, VW already ordered a complete new 'dash insert' (instrumental panel, I guess mostly generic on most models)

Dash had completely failed, no reason given, hope it's the one and only time!

Checked car over, huge amount of fault codes found, all cleared.

A/C had bad connection, parking sensors too, so fixed, seems fine.
Parking brake release seemed to be temporary glitch in process, fine now. I tend to find that compared to the B6, auto release tends to need alot more 'positive forward motion' than the B7.

Hopefully all ok, mileage saved automatically, together with all 'I.C.E' settings and phone, so hope it's happy days.

Would be interested to know failure cause, guess it may be heading back to VW for fault finding possibly.

Have to add VW were really good at explaining / repairing in very good time... thank goodness it was under warranty.
