I only came onto the site to get a recommendation for a speed camera detector & now I'm going to get drawn into a debate, because I can't help but put my two pennies in.

I do understand it from Sgt Blackman's point of view, these guys are trying to kill him & his colleagues on a daily basis - who could say what you yourself would do in his position at that moment in time, with all the emotion, adrenalin and anger in your system. And no I don't feel sorry for the Taliban fighter at all, he was part of an extremist organisation by choice, so was therefore a killer himself.

However if you take the emotion and patriotism out of the equation, what would you say if in previous wars, our veterans weren't taken to POW camps and they were just killed on the spot where they were captured. Do you think it would have been fair for Nazi's to kill British soldiers instead of capturing them? Could you look one of our POW Camp survivors in the eye & tell him you think it would have been fair if he had been killed while lying injured?

During the last two world wars there were huge numbers of reported cases where men killed injured men even on their own side rather than watch them die in agony, it's called human compassion.......

If someone is in agony & can't be saved, then there is a case to be made for ending their suffering, but as you weren't there on the day to know whether or not that was the case, you cannot be totally adamant that it was fair to kill him. Yes there are lots of historic cases of soldiers being killed, but my question is whether you would be of the same opinion if it was a British soldier on the receiving end. Our forces are the best in the world for a reason - they're the most skillful and disciplined soldiers in the world. If they start doing whatever they want instead of following their training.

I am going by what was said during the trial and appeals, that the terrorist was beyond help.

Was any attempt made to perform medical aid? You've still not answered the question as to whether it would be OK for a Taliban fighter to shoot one of our servicemen who was lying helpless...

I have no idea if there was help, I simply don't care. As to the other question, God knows....
