Hi chaps, Im still trying to decide what golf to get. I want either a GT TDi 130 or a GT TDi 150. I have driven my boss's Passatt 130 and the turbo kicking in very responsively. However id like the 150 but have been told they suffer from bad turbo lag.

Im going to remap the car anyway so was just wondering which you guys think is the best option. 130 or 150.

    Cheers

    Neil

If I was to sell my bora I would also be looking to get one of the two mentioned above.

The torque figures aren't far apart between the 2 engines.

The other day I also read that the 150 suffers from a problem with the crankshaft or something similar?

Anyway, taking into account the cost of the car and insurance premium, I think the 130 is good value for money. My opinion.

The 150 has a slightly better turbo and intercooler, but with a mild tune they will both push out 185bhp all day long.

The 150PD turbo's internals are a little more massive/strong/heat resistant, and can provide a few more PSI steady boost if you take it to the limit.

All the early injector cam's were not hard enough.

And i'm also looking at buying a mk4 gt tdi - 150's seem quite scarce over here, glad to hear the 130 gets a good review

btw... 130 and 150 are both insurance group 13 - so I dont think the premium will be any different between models. (And for that matter they are advertised as having the same fuel consumption)

When you say early injector cams, does that mean this problem was rectified in models manuufactured after a certain date?

    If so, what mm/yy?

    If no, then please elaborate.

had my 150 remapped the other week, must say it goes like a train now. Slight lag but soon as turbo kicks in you are off, and i mean OFF!!!! Up to 195bhp and 400nm torque. Cant believe how much of a difference the remap made. Also they increased the power band of the revs as it used to drop off at about 4000rpms, but now got power all the way to the red line. All in all money very much well spent. A fantastic car

had it done with chipped UK on offer at £290 bargain i think. Yeh it did cut down the lag, but you will get lag in any turbo, but from the point you put your foot down till the turbo kicks in your talking milli seconds. What you lose in that short space of time you quickly get it back.
