    Hi All,
New user to the site. Excuse my ignorance but where abouts on the A6 Allroad is the suspension compressor located and is it much of a job to remove? Also is there an idiots guide to doing the job. I.e. do I need to block the car up at a certain height?
    Cheers.
One other thing as my suspension will not go up how do I make it safe to jack up.

Hi, the compressor is under the car in front of the spare wheel well, best to have the rear wheels on a ramp or rear raised and supported on stands,

to jack the car or indeed work on it put the suspension into jack mode to disable it, do this by pressing and holding the up and down arrow for 5+ seconds, you can remove the compressor without releasing the air from the system

the compressor is covered by a plate held on with 3 nuts usually rusted to bits, once they fall off the compressor will be exposed. the compressor sits on 3 long studs and is held on with 3 nuts, it sits on spring isolators, carefull to note there position,

why removing the compressor to repair, replace or other?

I can mail you a guide its too large to attach I will PM you

    best regards

    Andy

Andy above is a top guy if its a refurb your doing and he even sells kits, here is the link on the first post which will tell you everything you need to know mate. Only had my car two weeks and done my one last week. Took an hour to remove it, 20 mins to repair it and 10 mins to put back in. Not you can hardly hear it and it jacks the car up from 1 to 3 in less than 60 seconds where as before it would NOT go from 1 to 2 in 120 seconds. Have fun...

The compressor fuse and relay are under the bonnet in one of the black boxes below the wipers, if the compressor runs the fuse is ok, but the relay on this model are prone to sticking on, the symptoms would be the compressor running with the key out the car, this would help destroy a compressor.

1st let us know what your suspension symptoms are so we can help diagnose what you are looking for?

    Best regards

Apologies for joining this thread - new on this forum! My 2005 Allroad,as of yesterday, has the yellow level light flashing on the dash. I was on level 2 in a queue of crawling traffic and it started flashing I parked up and restarted the engine and tried to bring the level back to no 2. I got home and tried again... This time it was flashing on level 1. It is down on all corners now. Investigations....the compressor isn't running. Checked the fuses in the box for self levelling both OK. Do you know where the relay is on the 2005 or have you any suggestions on the possible malfunction? Thanks in advance!!!!!

    Hi,

If the error light is flashing it is trying to lift to correct itself, the compressor should be running while the light flashes, so if definitely no compressor running it could be, the fuse, relay or compressor itself not working.

The fuse and relay are under the steering wheel / above the pedals, its a 40amp fuse and relay is usually marked 373, in position 6, of the 8 point relay carrier. You need to remove screws to remove the lower panel below the steering wheel to check this.

To check compressor simply put 12v straight onto compressor motor plug to see if it runs.

Let us know what you find.

    Best regards

    Andy
