Bleeping/indicators flashing for no apparent reason

The only thing I can think is causing this intermittent issue is that I recently removed an in situ mobile phone cradle by simply cutting through the wires to it. There was one thick cable with many small wires inside and a thinner one which I think was maybe supplying the power with what looked like only two conductors. After coming back from a week's holiday I noticed the bleeping/flashing which just seems to start randomly. Are these things likely to be connected? If so would completely unplugging these cables fix the problem? If so, how do I do that as they disappear behind the central console? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hi - I cut both the cables leading to the cradle as when I bought the car the cradle had been taken off the dash and was on the floor and I just wanted to get rid of it never thinking that I might be making a problem for myself in doing so!

Don't ever cut anything, try and trace the wires back into a control module somewhere usually inbehind the radio. Remove this and hopefully you haven't cut a main car wire.

Thanks - I will put up some photos later...any tips on how I access the control module? Don't you need a special tool to remove the radio/CD unit from the front of the dash?

sounds like cutting that cable has lead to a short or intermittent power drain which is triggering the alarm system

you need to trace the source of this cable and remove it properly

Update..took the car to a auto electrics specialist and he completely removed the wiring that I had cut through. Problem solved or so I thought. A few hours later and the bloody bleeping has started again. I don't know if its a coincidence but it appears to happen during the hours of darkness (low temps?) only...does that help indicate what might be happening? Could the battery have been slowly draining and itself be the cause of the problem?

I'd now be getting a fault code scan done.

Thanks - I was thinking the same thing! Does my battery suggestion have any logic to it? If so would a long drive to charge it up make a difference?

Perhaps you can ask your autoelectrician to do a test on your battery. If your battery is tired, or your charging cicuit inefficient, a long drive is unlikely to give more than a temporary improvement.
