Hi, just got my a6 avant s line and it has the six disc set up in the glove box but I wanted to see about fitting an iPod connector to it if it's easy enough to do?
    Can you help?
    Thanks

    Thanks Chris,
still looks complicated to me though. I did manage to change the wipers today and had a celebratory beer! I'm not very handy at stuff like this.
Is there a cheaper way, or could I do a USB stick input instead? Or even a memory card thing? I've no idea what options I have available.

    Many thanks

I'm pretty rubbish when it comes to installing things but I found this simple, no other cheaper way of getting iPod into your mmi unless you stick with a fm transmitter.

Ithink the vns system I used is available as a USB input but check with the seller.

The OEM ami is £300 whereas the vns which looks and feels exactly the same costs a helluva lot less.

You could buy a Dension 500 but again ~£300 from memory and requires more installation steps.

Took me 30 minutes to fit AMI to my A8. Hardest bits were removing the 'blank' from the AMI slot and making sure the wires pushed back in to the top of the glove box without bending (= bad). Ease and cost for the AMI also partly depend on whether you are keeping the CD changer, as if so extra splitter cables are needed. All plug 'n' pray though, unless you want AMI to show correctly in VCDS in which case there is some minor tweaking of the wiring.

You have that wonderful removable blank which is only on the A8

If the A6 had this (we currently have to cut the rear of the other shelf out) I would've put OEM ami in but the vns does the job rightly.
