    Just noticed this today.

Basically its OK when driving in a straight line, but as soon as I start to turn left there is a sort of grinding sound! Pulled up at junction as thought it may be steering, so I turned it full lock whilst stationary and no noise. It also seems a bit clunky / crashy over bumps. Had a quick look around tyre and didnt see anything obvious! Any ideas?

Start with the brake pads, could be a sticky caliper and one side is ok where the other side (same wheel) is gone totally.

AFAIK they're stretch bolts? Get new ones. Have you had your cambelt done recently?

Main agents' service work is warrantied for two years. Either take it back, enquiring whether new stretch bolts will be fitted. Or take it elsewhere -ditto-

There's a pattern emerging: last year had a body rust warranty and an engine recall done by main agents. Both needed returning.
My indie tells me that when he was at main agent he got a complaint from manager that none of his work was being returned. I don't know how the finances of a main agent's service department work. Especially for returns

All fixed and back to normal. VW were very apologetic.

Did you enquire whether they use stretch bolts at the engine mounts?
If so, and they havn't changed them, then they could come loose again

Dunno if likely though, havn't noticed anyone else mention them. I've only
had one cambelt change and indie I used (VW Mastertech) didn't mention
them, or charge me for fresh bolts for my tFSI 2.0L

Dunno if you've seen this horror thread about broken engine mount after cambelt change

I did mention it when I took it in. The service manager said that they had been replaced and they have checked and there is no damage. Overall very pleased with their response.
