Ive found a full set of winter tyres at a good price but not sure if they will fit. I have 265/35 R20 on at the moment and have found some 265/45 R20.

Is the difference there just how much tyre is between the rim and the road and will these be ok do you think? they are £500 for a full set that were used for a few hundred miles last winter.

using this link you will see that the 45 profiles are 52mm bigger overall in diameter, or 7.49 %, which is too much of a jump really to be safe. they would probably fit ok in your arches though.

Thanks for that. Thats a real shame a £500 for a full set of winter tyres this size was a pretty good deal. Ill keep looking and might even put it off another year.

Why do you think they would not be safe?

Speedo would be out a bit, a reading of 70 would be more like 75.

They would probably be perfectly safe to use until the time came to make an insurance claim, god forbid. Then the insurance company are likely to refuse to pay out for fitting the wrong tyre size. Always stick to Audi recommended tyre sizes and you'll be fine.

because they are bigger there would be a risk of the tyre rubbing the arch when the suspension compresses. this obvioulsy wouldn't be safe. they may also rub on full steering lock. the speedo would be out and acceleration reduced as well as braking efficiency, in reality none of this would really be noticed unless they did rub the arches, but as above, they are outside of spec with the obvious consequences.

If you want a selection go to ebay.de

Search term 'Audi A7 Original' the select 'AutoReifen + Felgen' (tyres and wheels) from the left panel followed by 'Felgen' (wheels only) or Komplettraeder ( wheels with tyres).

Look for '+EU 9999 versand' in the listing, this indicates a willingness to ship to the UK and for how much.

The 'original' stops you getting hundreds of after market wheels.

Google translate does a fair job of translating the item description.

Pick an item you can pay for with PayPal as sending money to a German bank account is (a) expensive and (b) a bit of a pain.

Sorry for late posting as you probably have fitted by now, this site is great for comparing what fits Search by car make - Wheel Fitment.eu - PCD, Offset, Center Bore, mounting and tire size data but remember to get offset relatively close so you can also check on here Online Wheel and Tyre Fitment Calculator. Offset, Tyre Stretch and Speedo Error | Will They Fit hope this helps
