HI I have got my old s6 auto Avant back on the road it has been off for 2 years and the brakes seem to be warped I thought they might sort themselves out but after 200 miles they are still the same. At £50 a disk and £40 for pads is there a cheaper way round or is it time to spend more money ?

It's a £40k+ car sadly, things are going to be expensive.

The one area I wouldn't cheap out on is the brakes.

    EDIT:

ECP have a 25% sale if that helps you in any way - http://www.eurocarparts.com/

If you go for Pagid all round, you'll get the whole lot for £260

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

do you have a layer of rust on the discs or a ridge of rust around the inner or outer edge. if so, has part of it chipped off ? if so, clean them up with a chipping stick and see if they are better. if they were not warped when you last drove it then 2 years of sitting there hasn't caused them to warp.

i bet he has left some bits of rust on an edge. as this hits the pad it causes a judder that feels just like a warped disc.

that would make sense as I am sure I had new discs put on about a year before I took her off the road and I don't do many miles

discs are large areas of steel. they get wet and wet causes rust. the only thing stopping rust is heat from braking. not using a car, especially when the air is damp and discs get cold and cold steel attracts condensaton, and this leads to rust. wheels off, look at the discs but not just the outer surface, have a good look at the inner edge as well. chances are they are fine, just got a build up of rust.
