    Hi,

Thank you to everyone who responded to my previous post. I am more reassured now that the 'BEAST' is running fine. I have had it for a week now.... We are due a service (90k). I has had full Audi history till 62K. The last Service at 79K (April) was done by a VW specialist (AK MOTORS) and the service book says they did everything they are supposed to do. Oil Change, filters etc.... the car has had a hard life since April.

So I am looking for a reputable and enthusiastic Audi / VW specialist who has good Quattro knowledge. I am based in Manchester! I will want All fluids Changed, Filters, maybe even drain the Auto Transmission and replace.

I trust that the previous owner really looked after the CAr. The brake discs and Pads have recently been replaced and those breaks are really sharp (an Audi foible?).

I've not tried Awesome GTI, I used www.autodeutsch.co.uk in newton heath (01612051005) because their location was better for me. They did a major service and transmission fluid change for £450.

Prior to this I had only ever used them for vag-com programming at £20 per time.

Worth asking what their labour and fluid rates are, for instance you can buy the quantum longlife III oil on ebay for circa £50 for 10l delivered, I don't believe that EU law lets them refuse to let you supply your own stuff if it meets spec. Also the tranny kit with fluid can be purchased from Bristol transmissions, check their price and compare with what the specialist is going to charge you ...odds on they'll simply buy from the same place and put a healthy mark-up on it.

For everything you're wanting done that seems pretty reasonable as the gearbox oil is expensive and takes around 9L I think.

No, I don't have Quattro. I believe from other posts on here that it's the quantity and cost of fluid that makes the transmission change expensive, and it's quite time consuming.

I know from when I phoned around that it was more or less the same price as other independent VAG specialists. Audi wanted nearly £1000 for the same work.

With any garage I recommend you pop in to have a chat and see the premises to satisfy yourself.
