VNS Media Audi Music Interface MMI 2G Fitted!

Not a how to as it's pretty self explanatory on how to fit!

I'm not a fan of non-OEM kit so I was a bit cautious when I first saw this online.

Looking at videos from VNS, it looked the same as AMI, ran like AMI, could do what AMI does, uses the same controls as AMI, not as much hassle to install as AMI (if keeping changer) but costs far far far less than AMI and keep the cd changer plugged in too.

Right okay, so received this bundle of goods in the post yesterday -

- Module
- iPod lead
- Power and fibre splitters

Testing with changer pulled out

Installation was pretty straight forward, remove glovebox (5 8mm bolts) and cut a small hole in the left hand side gap beside the cd changer just big enough for the cable end to pop through. (hole is out of sight from passenger seat

)

Put glovebox back in but dont connect anything MMI related.

Now plug the two looms in, plug the VNS in and push it back and to the right of the glovebox and all associated wires so you're just left with the new fibre and power plug for changer.

Using the iPad so I can take photos with my phone

Same warnings etc as AMI

There you go, nice OEM AMI for half the price

I'm just disappointed that you'll miss 888.8/88888 by a mile or so, unless you're very lucky!

Also does it charge your iphone/ipad?

Yep charges both.

iPad was only for demo purposes but yes full charging. iPhone/pod is out of sight and out of mind and still connected to Bluetooth in the car too.
