    I have a 2010 Audi A6 Avant TDI170 S Line Special Edition.

I have - what, after a lot of google searching - I believe to be the MMI 3G Basic system.

In my glove box is the DVD player for the Sat Nav, which has 2 SD slots. Then also the 6 disc changer.

Am am I able to just take out the changer and replace it with an AMI unit? Can anyone advise exactly what I need?

My end goal is to be able to play music from my phone via bluetooth. If this isn't possible, then a wired connection for music will also 'do'.

Any help is is much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Hey are u sure u don't have an ami slot? It's usually on the left hand side on the ceiling of the glove box like a rectangular block

I'm 'almost' certain. From the pics I've seen - I don't think I'd be able to miss it.

Also, so, when I press the 'Media' button - then go to 'Sources' it doesn't show the AMI socket as an option at all.

If it's not in the source menu then you don't have it and you'll need to add it using the link I provided.

No you need to remove the glovebox and place it in the little cutout on the wall of the glovebox itself then plugging it into the back of the unit that says Audi Multimedia on it. You keep the cd changer.

    Thanks again.

Sorry to sound like a newbie - but is the Audi Multimedia unit easy to find once the globe box is out?

I've been frantically trying to find some proper instructions - but there seems to be a lot me re the A4 rather than the A6.

It is in the glovebox you just need to remove the glovebox to get to the sockets on the back and run the cables. In your glovebox there will be two units the upper one is the CD changer and the lower one that has the two SD card slots and the DVD drive for the Sat Nav is marked as the multi-media unit.

I've got one of these on order as well & plan to stick a bluetooth dongle on the end of it for A2DP from my iPhone. It also needs activation with VCDS as well doesn't it?
