    Hey all,

So my 2005 A6 has memory and electric seats but surprisingly, not heated.

Having spent a few days in a 525d MSport with that option (about the only thing I like about the car) I'm wondering if it'd be a massive/expensive job to get it fitted in my own car?
With winter coming and hearing how leather gets VERY cold (first time owning a car that has leather), the last thing I'll need at half 7 in the morning is to literally be freezing my *** off!

If it's a huge expensive job though I'll have to think of something else.. any 3rd party options people have used?

    Cheers!

You'll need a new climate control panel which has component protection so there's two costs already. But have a look here Heated seats - retrofit? For an aftermarket option

If you have any spare blank switches on your car it is possible to have them standalone of the climate system as it's just an on/off switch....preferrably with a light to advise when they're on. Don't think you'll have the flexibility of temperature adjustment though...unless that can be built into the switch.

About 10yrs ago I was having my MX-5 retrimmed in perforated leather and opted to have not only heated but also ventilated seats, fan switch was built into the seat itself heater units were bought from Ebay for £25 the pair fans were fitted after the retrim and the switches were OEM. In total it cost me less than £100.

The main problem is possibly removing the current leather skin...easier with fabric but personally I'd pay a retrimmer to fit them for you, ensuring that the power wires exit at the most convenient place to run power. Naturally for the connection to power/earth/switch you need to build in sufficient slack to allow movement of your electric seats.

Let us know how it goes!

I suggested to the OP of the thread I linked a suitable place would be down by the lumbar support thing.

Saves starting to take the dash apart.

How very strange, you have the basically highline of seats but no heated controls, I do wonder if the seats were fitted with heated elements & just not wired all the way through or enabled & climate fitted, as all fully electric/memory seats I have worked on, have been heated aswell, be interesting to see what your vin advises in etka.

Remember his car isn't a uk spec car, Republic of Ireland has some weird spec levels which doesn't include things that we get (uk spec cars) as part of different options.

I'll try and find a brochure later and report back.
