    Default Weird noises from front of car – 09-09-2013,09:32 AM
    B6 Avant AWX 1.9 tdi - is there an exhaust heat shield about the downpipe that can come loose and interfere with the steering rack somewhat? I got a noise and some weird vibrations etc. Thanks guys in advance.

    You need to be more specific,what vibrates? when driving?turning the wheel when stationary?track rod ends?if you want help more info please.

    Transpires that one of the handbrake cables had snapped and the resulting metalwork was all snagged up with the exhaust. This was rattling etc, which sounded like a heat shield rattle. I think it's also damaged the exhaust as it seems to be blowing a bit, but yet to verify.
