    Hi,

I've got a 1.9 TDI PD Tiptronic Passat (115bhp) standard(no induction, chip, etc), it basically runs perfect, gears move smoothly, etc but occasionally when going up a hill it will go into limp mode

If I stop and switch off/on the engine, its back to normal which makes me think it not too serious.

I suspect something is overheating with the extra strain on the gearbox/engine so I've today just had the gearbox oil changed @ £10 a litre from VW. Have yet to find out if it has stopped doing it. I did take it to the steepest hill in Wales I could find and went up and down a few times at full pelt but nothing happened so not sure if cured...

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

    Thanks

    milenia

Have a similar limp mode problem with a 110 1.9 Tdi A4. First step is to find someone with the equipment to read off the engine management fault codes.

Mine was down to the Manifold Air Pressure) MAP sensor. And restarting the engine always gets things back to normal, but now trying to find a replacement.

    This is good advice.

Where abouts in Wales are you?

If the car lags or loses power the most common fault is the MAF. If it runs better with the MAF disconnected than it does with it connected, it's the MAF

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.
