Picked up my ex demo A6 (2 ltr 177ps TDI S-line) this week and so far I'm well impressed.

I have a couple of questions I can't get answered for any of the books (which I'm sad enough to have read them all) unless I've missed something in my excitement....

    1. Is there a setting to have the pop out MMI screen under manual control? I know I can press the button on the dash to put screen in or out, but was wondering if there's a setting to let me manually decide and the screen stays out or in no matter what I do with the ignition / doors etc.

    2. Is there a setting to have the hill hold assist on as a default?

    Thanks a lot....

Welcome to the word of C7 ownership and glad you like the car

Regarding your questions. No, you cannot put the screen under manual control, it will always open when you start the car and close when you open the driver's door having switched off or press the Stop button again after turning the engine off. It is not possible to change however the default of the Hill-Hold system, however some owners of cars purchased recently have reported that on their cars the Hill-Hold remembers if it was on or off the last time the car was driven and returns to that state on restarting the car. If true it would suggest there has been a change in the software and it may be something that can be added to older cars.

Thanks. Got it from a main Audi dealer so would hope they would have loaded the latest firmware if available for my car. I did get the recall mentioned in this forum.

When I'm next in I'll ask them...

I've got an MY2014 that remembers the hill hold function. It seems to be stored in the key like other stuff.

Dealers tend to only update software if there is a specific reason to do so, unfortunately it is not like a computer where the updates come for free, although there are indications that VAG are moving to such a model. Perhaps someone with an MY14 car (Bigswede?) could post what software version they have in their car?

Yes that is it, thanks. My car, built May 2012, has version P11474 so clearly the new cars do have a new version. Now the challenge will be to get the dealer to agree to upgrade it
