I am having this problem at the moment. I have tried wd40 with a lot of hammering. Dare not try a breaker bar as at least one of the 8mm allen bolts looks a little stripped. What do you mean by the vice grips? Around the bolt head? Do you think a little heat persuasion would help? I'm kinda thinking to leave them alone but would like to get them off so any future work will be easier. Thanks

I am in the same boat. I need to take the caliper off to change the rear wheel bearings, and one of the 8mm hex's is totally stripped out. I have been trying to source a new set of caliper mounting bolts, but can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know where I could get some, or does anyone have to specs for them?
    Thanks

    Is it these ones:

    • Upper - N91058702: M10x1.25x52.5
    • Lower - N91058802: M10x1.25x62.5

Available on eBay, or from local VAG parts desk, who will probably charge a bit more but usually ensure you get the right thing.

If you're ever unsure on that sort of thing your local VAG dealer parts desk will find them for you. No need to delay a job, get the wrong ones, etc.
