hi (its my first posting sorry if its in the wrong place)

on my audi a4 b8 2008 i did a manual regen to clear the dpf as the dpf sign was displayed 2 week ago, but now the dpf, glow plug sign (flashing) and engine management light is showing car went into limp mode.
    had the codes done which:-

5188-P2463:- DIESEL particle filter:- excessive soot accumulation – no signal communitaion

5162-p0471 :- exhaust pressure sensor 1 (g450) implausible signal – open or short to plus

do i need to get the g450 pressure sensor changed and forced regen?? or do the codes show some other problem? the codes have now been cleared and the car is driving normally, can i still drive the car or will it block the dpf more if i drive it?
generally how much is it for the sensor change and forced regen? and do i have to get a forced regen done or can i just do a manual regen myself once the sensor has been changed?

    thank you

Sounds like the infamous sensor. If you have access to VCDS for the forced regen, you can change it yourself quite easily. Mine was changed by my local specialist, but thats only because I was due a major service and a couple of little bits just as mine packed up, but it was not overly expensive.

Breaking down my reciept, the genuine sensor was £49.83, and £55 to change and regen.

I was advised not to keep driving my car until it was changed, to prevent damage to the dpf filter, as if the sensor is not working, then it will not regen.

thanks for the quick reply i live in Nottingham i've been given quotes from two audi specialist (for sensor change and regen) :--

    german automotives derby :- £150+vat = £180

autotechz nottingham :- £143.80 including VAT

both sound very expensive compared to you £104.83

anybody know any other garages around Nottingham or near nottingham area that can replace the sensor and do a regen, is it also true that the senors need to be adapted via VCDS??

the sensor is £59 from Audi. I bought mine from my local dealer a week or so ago, in fact thats my panic thread that posted above! lol the sensor is very accessible and literally took 90 seconds MAX to replace. my grandmother could do it seriously. I got a quote from a local indi garage of 20 quid to adapt the sensor but then i kinda worked out my self with my own vcds. took about 20 mins to regen to 0.1g from 28g.

The software can be downloaded from Ross-Tech but you will need HEX-USB+CAN interface to go with it. The ones you are looking at on Amazon are not the genuine VCDS and may not work properly or even at all -avoid! You can buy the genuine interface from the likes of Gendan or ilexa. Alternatively check out the VCDS User Locations for someone with VCDS nearby who could help you out.
