Its all very well and good loving your diesel but government's are rapidily turning against them. In France they are making moves to ban any diesel less than an EU6 from cities and in the US they are making life very hard for those that want them.

All VAG need to do is reintroduce a running in procedure with running in oil. Any way, that chap with the van has had say 7 litres in 9000 miles which is 14500 Km where Audi's acceptable consumption is 1 litre per 1000Km, therefore they would consider 14 litres acceptable in that distance, not 7! He is only half way there to what Audi consider a point for looking into it!!!!

Hi, I bought an A5 2.0l TFSI Quattro as an Approve car from Audi (46,000 miles). I have now done 2000 miles and have used nearly 3.0l of oil (I had to top it up after only a couple of weeks). It's currently in with Audi for an oil comsumption test. Many thanks for your information on this issue. I get the results later this week but I can't see it passing.

If you bought it as an approved car from audi you shouldnt have any problems getting it sorted.
I bought mine from the carshop and my local audi dealer have been super so far, infact they have the car back in for another oil comsumption test.

Hi, just heard back from Audi and they are now going to replace pistons, rods etc under the warranty. This is great news and Bath Audi have been excellent. They had to follow the process of oil comsumption test parts 1 & 2 (actually remove all the remaining oil to determine how has been used). Looking forward to getting it back.

Talk to your Audi dealer about this, there is a procedure they will go through to see if the consumption exceeds the allowed 1litre per 1000km where Audi will rebuild the engine with updated pistons but one of that age should already have them.

I did they said car has always been serviced and this car has no consumption issue it might be my sensor or hood switch as I checked yesterday and the Mmi showed max again.
