    Hi,

I'm schedulling an Oil Change for this week.

I used to change my Peugeot 309 oil on a regular basis, so I can do a "general" oil change, I've purchased all the filters (Oil, Fuel and Air) as I don't know when they were REALLY changed last (I've got a FSH, and Garage was supposed to do this as the Ts & Cs of me buying, but as it seems they are a bunch of cowboys, I'm no longer sure).

I've bought fully synthetic oil (4L, should be 3.5 L capacity).

I know the sump plug should be located at the from right side of the sump.

ARE THERE ANY THINGS I SHOULD BE AWARE OF BEFORE COMMENCING THE OIL CHANGE?

Any other advice about servicing to be considered at 96k on a 1.9 TDi? (1998, R-Reg)

    Cheers,

    -AS

dont forget your pollen filter. (the idiot i bought the car off didt knw it existed by the looks of things)

anyway, fully sythentic oil (from what i heard is good stuff, aqnd it will wipe away any carbon deposits but that can be a bad thing too, as these may be plugging any minor leaks or cracks on our older tdi engines)

thats what i was told anyway. not sure i understood it fully.

and iv serviced my tdi twice now, n let me tell you, have a few cable ties aside. them "nappies" we call engine guard dont hold up too well.

other than that. good luck. have fun.

I've done the oil change, but it's already black as anything.

I wasn't sure about its colour, as I'm used to getting a couple of thousand miles off an oil change before the colour goes murky in Petrol Engines.

Is there something I should do to stop the oil going very murky so quickly?

Do I need to use engine cleaners or something?

I think diesel engine oil soon blackens, so its nothing to worry about. Some people swear by using a flushing oil first, but I never have, over many years and with different cars. Providing oil and filter are changed at the prescribed intervals, you shouldn't have a problem. Also, we are told that modern oils have built-in detergent properties.

in my experiance, diesel oil has always been black (after driving a few miles) i think thats normal.

how long do you go before you re-new your oil? do you change your oil filter at da same time? and next time try semi-syenthetic oil. iv not had any problems wit dat.

I don't know anyone who wouldn't change their oil filter at the same time as the oil!

This oil have been in car for 8k. Next change will probably be at 4k, just to get me to a round number of miles.
