Just fitted new discs and pads and When I re-fitted the carrier on the nearside rear the disc isn't running centrally through the groove and is rubbing on the front edge. is it ok to file the groove or will it just eventually bed in? Thanks for any help.

no, its not ok to file it, something is not right. either the disc is the wrong part or you have fitted them incorrectly. have you compared the 2 discs or tried them on the other sides to see if the problem is still there. have you thoroughly cleaned the matting face where the disc sits on the hub ? theres not a lot that can go wrong fitting them so i would put to down to a dodgy disc for now.

    As above

If there is a problem either the wrong parts have been used or the assembly has not been out back together properly

Comparing to the old parts will be a good place to start

Do not attempt to drive the car or 'modify' brake parts as this probably won't end well
