    I've got a 2006 BKP engined car.
I've been getting error code 18000 which indicates possible map sensor fault. Changed sensor and car seems fine but I'm also going to change wiring loom to sensor as recommended by Wiki- Ross.
I've bought new loom but new loom has 4 wires, brown, yellow, purple, black+grey, but old wiring only has 2 wires connected, red, black.
Has anyone got any ideas if all 4 wires should be connected and if so where they plug on ecu.
    Thanks in advance.

Done a bit more research and found out which pins the wires go on but for some reason I've only got two wires on sensor plug. The other two are just loose near the sensor.

From wiring diagrams I viewed using info 2006 Passat BKP 2.0 tdi there should be four wires as MAP sensor (G31) has intake temp sensor (G42) built in ....

    google for SSP316 2.0-litre Diesel Engine , view page 38 ...

    Thanks for the info.
Can't understand why only two wires are connected to the sensor.
Some previous owner has been meddling and original wires have been cut and joined into sensor plug. I'll fit new loom and see what happens. Worried about damaging ecu.

I've changed wiring loom today and fingers crossed car is running better than ever. Fitted new loom with four wires instead of what was fitted, only two wires and it looked a right bodge.
A bit fiddly working on ecu plug but after some expert advice from the forum it made it a lot easier.
Would like to say a special thanks to Crasher and gupsterg for all the help. I owe you both a beer.
