    Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone would be able to help with dipped lights problems on VW Passat Estate 1.9TDI SE 2006.

The dashboard notification indicated that both left and right dipped lights not working 2 days ago. The bulb icon on dash screen also illuminated.
Luckily this happened before I used the car at nightime.
The side lights and High beam work fine.
Initially thought this was a fuse problem as strange for both bulbs to go at same time but not impossible I suppose.
The fuse diagram in the Passat onboard manual shows the fuse to be Number 5 (10amp) within the fuse box inside car (driver and passenger side).
The driver side had this fuse in situ and seemed okay. When I check the passenger side, there wasn't a fuse in place so can't be right.
The other diagram was for fuse box in engine (High box and low box). There is only 1 fuse box in engine and nothing relates to lights on diagram.

I've changed one of the bulbs with a H7 and still doesn't work so not the bulb.

Not sure what else to check but read that this could be a relay?

Has anyone else come across this problem?
    Thanks

    Thanks for replies.
The switch works fine for the high beam and side lights so not sure if it is faulty.
It's now booked into the garage tomorrow.

    Hi
Did you manage to find the cause of the problem?
My car is starting to play up. It drives fine on dipped headlights, it's when I go from main beam to dipped lights I
have the problem. The both headlights go off for about 4 seconds and then come back on. Pretty scary when I'm
doing 70mph down a pitch black motorway.
I'm suspecting the dip, main beam/indicator stalk..
    Help would be much appreciated

Let us know what heads you've got? Standard Halogen to both? Xenon aftermarket kit fitted to dips? Factory-fitted Bi-Xenons?
What car, year, miles, ever noticed this happen before even the once? Do you have DRLs enabled?

The handbook is jibberish to say the least and really relates to the Mia space station
