I have an A3 2.0 TFSI S-Line DSG on an 06 plate. Occassionally when accellerating I loose power. I keep my foot down but accelleration stops and the car slowly starts to loose speed. If I let it coast for a few while (20-30 seconds) it picks up again and drives normally. I've just had a major service at my dealer and on the health check they wrote the following:

"Loss of power under accelleration. Requires rebooking for further investigation and possibly TPI 2014909/4 carrying out. Replacement of inlet camshaft."

They want £1296 to carry out the investigation and said that it might not cure the problem!

    Any ideas on the cause?

    Thanks.
