    Hi All,
    some help required please

My old trusty audi allroad, year 2000, 2.5Tdi AKE just broke down on way home from work tonight, was acceletaring hard off a roundabout and just died in 3rd gear about 3000rpm, turns over but no start, towed home, coil light starts flashing on towing, once home VCDS plugged in and scanned get these 2 faults:

    2 Faults Found:
01318 - Control Module for Injection Pump (J399)
    49-00 - No Communications
    01268 - Quantity Adjuster (N146)
    37-00 - Faulty
    Readiness: N/A

faults cleared and no codes come back even after lots of cranking, is this normal codes not coming back? does the coil light only flash and store a code as the car was being towed?

so anyway 1st impression it looks like the fuel injector pump, but do you all agree? if so whats the recomended options: a recon one, or new unit and from who?

can i fit a 2nd hand one or does it need coding?

Im off to check belts are stll intact 1st!!

I appreciate any comments as its an old bus and, as everyone, I dont really want to throw huge money at it changing the wrong parts!! I dont like the idea the fault codes dont come back!!

    Regards

    Andy

PS: I aslo I owe my dad a new van, just ripped the towbar off his old rusty LDV in the last 100 yards of towing!!! Oh boy!!

I think diesel bob is the place for recon pump. Not cheap..
I would crack an injector and see if you have fuel.

    bloody interweb phone.

Pump nr. 059130106D or E ? If so it's plug and play, needs no coding. The insulation on the wires to the quantity adj. and the advance solenoid have a nasty habit to crack and fall off in pieces and

makes a short to ground sooner or later. Take the pump off and get a used unit from Ebay and check the insulation on theese wires very carefully.

Update: The car tried to run with some easy start squirted in the intake, all timing checks out ok so Pump is now off, ready to send to diesel Bob, It is Part no 059 130 106 E which is plug and play on the older 2000 models as you say but there are no bargains out there just now so I will settle for a rebuild.
    Many thanks
    Andy
