ok so fitting the new ring worked ok but the new ring wont wear out that quick unless either the cylinder was in bad condition or dirt gets into the air intake, or if the compressor relay is stuck on!! it could be lots of things causing poor performance also check the air output pipe and fitting for leaks and the pipe to the storage tank and its fitting, any leak will cause poor performance, I would recommend getting a fault code read to make sure the level sensors and ECU are all working ok too, your new compressor will work just fine but if there is a leak 6 months from now that compressor will show signs of poor performance too!! hence I recommend a quick check at everything just to preserve its lifespan and save you money, regards Andy

The new compressor comes with a new air intake, relay and temp sensor, so those things are covered. I will get the codes read, thanks for the tip!. The relay is not stuck as the compressor does not run that often. As said the car seems to level correctly otherwise, but it is slow. I`ve looked over the fittings/pipes and there does not seem to be any obvious faults there, But maybe I sholud spray the connctions with soap water to be sure.

    Thanks
    Sakke

The new compressor does comes with an intake pipe but it is only a small section of the air in, you should check from the rubber connection which fits on to the "T" piece of the compressor to the air filter in the spare wheel well for blockage,

a quick spray on the airline fittings & connections with soapy water will be a good enough check for leaks, i do think it is the compresor but best to check as a new compressor will work great but if there is an issue elsewhere it too will deteriorate in the same monnor

    regards

    Andy

    Hi,

Assistance needed pls.. Had the mechanical side of things checked out by a mechanic friend of mine and all good, He said there is no live feed to the compressor/pump. Does anyone know what could be the electrical problem and where the 40 amp fuse is situated, also a 506 fault code has flagged up, does anyone know what this code relates to?

A bit of help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Jamie

Yes fella the warning light is stuck on and no live feed detected to the compressor. Will check the fuse now you have kindly advised of its location. Fingers crossed its a poor connection or blown fuse!

No I don't think its the fuse, something else is stopping the compressor and putting the error light on, you need to get the fault codes read, it could be anything, we need to work out what the code 506 is, can you get a fault code read with VCDS (VAG COM), regardsAndy
