My old man works for Audi, he was laughing the other day when he was telling me about a trade-in where the owner didn't know that as long as the seat belt is fastened the parking brake will come off automatically when you press the accelerator. They'd had the car for 3 years!

This reminded me of my old car and a list of "secrets" that the Mercedes Benz forum had put together for things like tunnel mode, a/c reset to simple things like a hidden pen holder and coin rack.

Anyone care to add below? Nothings to stupid, it's just a bit of fun at the expense of others if they didn't know something obvious!

    1. Electronic Handbrake - Automatically comes off when seat belt is fastened and accelerator is pressed.

    2. A/C syncs on both sides when driver side button is held in for 2-3secs.

    3. Computers can be reset from stalk as well as MMi.

    4. There is a sunglasses holder just in front of the roof light, closest to the windscreen

    5. The aircon can be turned off altogether by holding the econ button in a few seconds while the ignition is on.

    6. The aircon can be switched on when the ignition is off by holding in the ECON button. This will allow a max speed of 5 on the fan.

    7. That you can set the surround sound to focus the acoustics for just the driver, rear only or whole car on the Audi DSP.

    8. You can adjust the satnav lady voice by holding in the volume button on the steering wheel and scroll up and down to lower/raise her

    9. Remote key fob you can use to pop your windows up by keeping the lock button pressed, and for closing press the un-look button till closed

    10. The heating system remembers the temperature settings that were on for each key, so if I get in the car & put in my key, it'll return to the settings I last had it on, but if the Missus uses her key, it'll restore the settings that she last had it on with her key, this also remembers the radio station/source per key and if you have memory seats the seat settings.

    11. The tools are stored for wheel changing on the right hand side in the boot, behind the compartment - handle on the top of the inside of the compartment.

    12. There are two buttons on the inside of the drivers door, near the catch which will turn the interior monitoring OFF (top switch) and the bottom switch will turn the tilt sensor OFF.

Things it took me ages to discover:

The sunglasses holder (not that it holds a decent size pair of sunglasses).
That the aircon can be turned off altogether by holding the econ button in a few seconds while the ignition is on.
That you can set the surround sound to focus the acoustics for just the driver, rear only (or is it front only?) or whole car.

You can adjust the satnav lady voice by holding in the volume button on the steering wheel and scroll up and down to lower/raise her. Works on the A3 too.

Don't even have my A6 just yet but subscribed to this thread!

Hmmm, I wonder if this (My 2nd post) changes me from a one-post wonder to a two-post terror or similar

It took me 5.5 years to discover the residual heating function where after a run, with the engine off you can press and hold the climate on/off button for a couple of secs and the blower will start up and blow you hot air for as long as the engine block is warm.

Saved me £££ when waiting for kids last winter.

I've had 2 A6s, currently on my second, for nearly four years and only discovered the sun glasses holder a couple of months ago. It was only because my wife was driving and I was in the passenger seat that I really noticed it - still haven't used it mind

No secrets from me...but am learning lots of new things just from reading this thread!

I only learned of the air-con off from Gup a few weeks back, also after a few months of ownership was only after I looked for an aftermarket sunglass holder that noticed the ebay OEM ones said 'sunglass holder' then I found it..as has been said they only hold small sunglasses and not the aviator set you'd imagine most drivers possess.

Keep em coming as am learning new thangs from it!

I didn't mention it earlier as it wasn't me that found it, it was A6 Chris that told me I believe. The heating system remembers the temperature settings that were on for each key, so if I get in the car & put in my key, it'll return to the settings I last had it on, but if the Missus uses her key, it'll restore the settings that she last had it on with her key.

It also remembers the radio station last used by the person with that key and if you have memory seats the seat settings
