One week into ownership of my 2003 GT TDI PD 150 and i think the turbo has blown. I accelerating from second gear off a round-about, heard a pop from the engine bay then lost all power. I am gutted to say the least and i just hope the garage i got it from dont mess me around when i ring them. Has anyone had a similar problem?

You could of just blown a hose off.
Have a look at the intercooler.

I will have a look in the morning when there is a bit of light. I did think the turbo sounded a bit strange but people kept saying it's just because its a diesel and your used to the sound of a petrol engine :/

All pipes check out ok, nothing has come off or has come loose which means it's a more serious matter. I got in touch with the garage i bought the car from and they told me to take the car back in to be looked over by their engineers. If the turbo has died (looking likely) does the warranty usually cover it? i have heard that some do and some dont, has anyone had any experience with a similar situation?

The details of the warranty (ie what's covered, what's not) should have been provided if its a official warranty. If its just a verbal warranty, who knows. But good luck chap, I hope you get it sorted.

a 'pop' and then loss of power is not usually a turbo but more likely, as kite said originally, a blown hose. could even be the intercooler but a blown hose is more likely. they can be a pain to find though.

As said,it could be intercooler hose coming off.on my 130bhp,it was difficult to find as the stub pipe that popped off was located behind tge driver headlight. Might be worth having someone sitting in car giving it a few revs (do not go mad.1500 is enough to engage turbo) and check around the engine for leaks.

Checked for leaks and found none plus no activity from the turbo, i gave it a rev up with my next door neighbough listening in (ex rover and bmw engineer) and he said it's possible the turbo failure or EGR valve jammed open but it's had to say for sure without looking into it further. It's in the hands or the garage now and i am just hoping it will be fixed under the warranty as i have only had the car just over a week :/
