I done an oil and filter change today, and to get the oil filter off I unplugged the lead going to the inlet manifold to get a clearer grab on the filter, done the mini service and fired her up, I got in the car and the EML was on, I then remembered I'd forgotten to plug the wire back in. I switched off and plugged it back in but the EML is still on. What could this be? Could I have broke something?? Can I reset it without VAG-COM? If not is there anyone in Essex with it that can do a quick scan for me?? Really don't want to pay Audi £120 to switch it off

Very strange indeed! Sure you were looking at the right light Sam???

Changed my oil (castrol edge 5w/30) last night plus oil, air & cabin filters. No issues other than the usual oil spillage while getting the filter off & the air filter was a bit of a pain with all the pipework around it but nothing insurmountable. Running smooth & quiet now - long may it last.....

lol. yes, I was looking at the right light. the one that looks like an engine

I'm not sure what that sensor is for, but using all my limited knowledge i'm guessing that as it was unplugged it wasn't reading the correct parameters so the light came on, when I plugged it back in and started back up it got completely different readings (but the correct ones) so the light stayed on. when I filled up with fuel the system had a chance to reset/recalibrate. so when I restarted the car on returning from the petrol it had all the correct parameters and the light went out.

I may be completely wrong but this is all I can think that caused it!

it will have logged a code so bear this in mind next time its plugged in, don't let this code lead you up the wrong path. it just took its time to be sure the sensor was ok before putting the light out.
