Hi, ive been following a number of threads all over the internet recenelty regarding this matter, where this particular SVM will fix a traffic update but inadvertently upgrades the SDs capability to SDHC, so one can play SD cards greater than 4GB. Its a well discussed topic.
Anyway, i went to be local dealer today and explained why i wanted to do this, they said they had never heard about this before, but that they were very intrigued and said they would be prepared to upgrade mine which is HW02 SW0210, to SW0310 for an hourly rate of 90 quid inc vat, but they also pointed out it would be my risk, and if something went wrong they would be unable to flash the orginal back, therefore i would potentially need a new radio. I think im happy to take the risk as people seem to have had their radio updated with my same revisions, and can now take advantage of upto 32GB SDs.

Now, i just wanted to see what you guys thought about this, would you do it?, they said they could do it Friday. If it works, then as far as im concerned, 90 quid was worth it, it would cost me a lot more to do this an alterative way. As they were so intrigued im considering asking if they will do it for 50 as and treat me as a guinea pig!

    Thoughts?

if others have had it done, then go for it and i would try the guinea pig approach too, it could work in your favour!

I also tried to get this done when I got my car. They wanted 150 it! I only wanted it as a stop gap as my radio wasn't compatible with ami! Managed to find an audi retrofit specialist that does a lot of dealer work in Manchester. He supplied and fitted a brand new radio for only 200. This gave me the higher capacity and meant I was ready for ami once I had saved up (got it fitted a couple of months later)

90 isn't bad. 150 was daft for me though, as I knew I needed a new radio to be compatible with ami which was always my plan. So 200 for a new radio there was on contest. Good luck to you, it would be interesting to hear if the upgrade actually works

IMG_20130418_085611.jpgIMG_20130419_172105.jpgwell bugger me! it actually worked, it also seems to play new formats too. i first of all thought it hadnt worked because it said "unreadable" when i put my 8GB SDHC in, but then soon remembered that previoulsy it said no disk inserted before the software update and alarm bells were ringing. then realised i had stupidly formatted the disk NTFS, so quick FAT32 format and i now have SDHC capability....this is so awesome and well worth 90 quid IMHO.

The audi boy said my radio H02 took the update no problems what so ever.

    before and after for proof.

Brilliant! This thread will be very useful to anyone searching. When I was looking there were many people talking of it probably working. But no reports of anyone actually trying it.
