I would be very grateful if anybody could help with my locked door, after checking wires leading into the B pillar was fine, all wiring leading upto and into the door is fine. I have managed to strip out my door completely and there is only the lock left in the door and i still can't manipulate the mechanism from the inside to open it.....HEEELLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!

disconnect the battery, and two pulls on the door handle should open it, if you don't disconnect the battery it will not open,

Cheers for the suggestion but this did not work either, however I have managed to open it since posting this, I cut a hole in the plastic casing of the central locking motor and wound the dead lock off manually thus being able to pop the button or the lever connecting to it then open the door from the outsde. This will make it much easier to unbolt the door catch when the new lock arrives.

Sorry to resurrect this rather old thread , but can you tell me how you "wound the dead lock off manually" ? I have an A3 in a similar situation but both o/s doors are the same - can't open from the inside or outside. Thanks

Which A3; 8L, 8P or 8V? You would get better results by starting your own thread.

It's an 8P so similar chassis to the Passat B6? I have already started my own thread: Deadlocked Door Advice

but there hasn't been any responses to any of my messages.

Had a look here, everything I already knew!! Door was shut so couldn't do it this way!!
Having perceived at it this afternoon I managed to open the door by completely trashing the lock from the inside with my multi-tool.
Couldn't see why it didn't open but now need to get a replacement fairly sharpish as door is now left open with window gaffered closed!
