    Hi there,

I have just purchased a Passat 1.9 TDI Sport (from a good friend who was using it daily with no problems).

All was fine for a few days. It has now gone into limp mode. No boost, sluggish ETC. (I had only done 30 miles in the car total under normal driving conditions).

I took it to a mechanic who read fault codes, he said that it was:

Manifold Pressure Sensor, Circuit Open, Intermittent Fault

He had a look at the pipes, no issues, when he unplugged the MAF sensor centrally located at the rear of the engine bay, it was full of fluid (watery). So much so it was dripping out.

Under advice, I have ordered and awaiting a replacement, in the meantime I have removed, cleaned and in the process of drying out the sensor and plug.

I will try the old sensor when dried out, if that fails, will try the new one.

If this fails to correct the issue, is there anything else I can do before taking it back for further investigation?

    Thanks.

the maf isn't located there , that's the map sensor. cleaning it and the pipe trunking of all the crankcase mist should have it working again , if not buy the uprated sensor for the 150 bhp golf . you should check the lower pipes also down to the intercooler , chances are the intercooler is swimming in oil also ...

    Welcome to the forum!
at the moment there's not much to go on, I'm not even sure if this is petrol or diesel engine . You should also get the car scanned for codes as a starting point and post them, as the problem(s) could be many things. post your 3 letter engine code (found on build sticker in boot or service book) and you'd be better starting your own thread to get more replys, rather than resurrecting an old Passat thread
