Yes, optical bridge connected now and music is not cutting off anymore, the whole MMI is not slow any more etc. It was all BT module fault.

If BT is dead, usually it's cutting off Optical chain, that's why it looks like Component Protection is active. You need to run diagnostic, then you'll know what's wrong. Otherwise you need to get access to where BT Module is located and plug MOST Loop/Bridge and see if it helps...

I don't think the BT module's have CP?

My genuine Audi module in my A3 certainly didn't.

Yes, BT doesn't have component protection. I think, symptoms which are caused by faulty BT Module are similar to when Component Protection is active..

    Hello people,

So after waiting for a long time, finally my BT Unit arrived, I installed it and I can say that it's working fine now. I've sent my faulty Unit to Eastern Europe for repairs, as it was cheapest option for me (don't ask me how I found someone to fix it, I spent long hours to find someone who can do this) and now it's back to normal.

Also, I've done MMI firmware updates and now it's 5570.

However, I have few questions regarding updates.. I made notes of Software Index of all MMI module before I started updates and after I've done all updates possible, I can see that my:
CD-Changer (SW-Index: 0470), DAB-Tuner (SW-Index: 0830) and Gateway (SW-Index: 0070) did NOT update. Navibox D3 also did not update, but I believe it'll update together with DVD update disc. Right? I've run all 3 CDs as per instructions and all the process went without any problems.

So, does anyone have an idea why these 3 module did not update? Is it because there were no updates for these modules on a set of 3 Update CDs or is it because these modules were up to date?

So my MMI modules have these SW-Indexes:
    Interfacebox: SW-Index: 5570
    CD-Changer: SW-Index: 0470
    Handyvorb2: SW-Index: 1130
    DSP-High C6: SW-Index: 0240
    Tuner EU/US/RDW: SW-Index: 0630
    NaviBox D3: SW-Index: 0850
    Dab-Tuner: SW-Index: 0830
    Gateway: SW-Index: 0070

Can someone please confirm that no further updates are needed for my setup?

    Thanks a lot

Hi again, only today I realized that in CAR meniu there's no "Version" option any more. It disappeared after updates.

Anyone know how to unable this option using VCDS?

    Thanks

Only suggestion I can make contact Ross Tech support via email, they also do visit the VCDS section on VWAF perhaps one of their reps will answer their ...
Even if they have no procedure to resolve issue you maybe able to gain info on resetting relevant MMI module to factory defaults and coding in options/adaptations from them ...

If I see anything when rooting around for stuff will post mate ...

gupsterg, thank you so much so actually, everything looks OK really in terms of SW-Indexes of those modules, looks like there were no more updates for them..

I just can't figure it out how come "Version" option is not there any more. I did read quite a few threads about MMI updates and missing features afterwards but did not see anyone mentioning they lost "Version" in CAR meniu.

Maybe I should just reboot MMI system one more time...

However, Thank you for info from your log, now I see that I updated everything I could

No worries , I think all is OK RE SW-Indexes ...

I'd give that a whirl ... what I was suggesting in my earlier post is factory reset on module 07 Control head ... via adaptation ...

Channel 00 is a special case. Performing a [Save] to Channel 00 resets all adaptation values to their original factory defaults. This only works in controllers that support this function, see your Factory Repair Manual to find out if this procedure applies to each controller in your vehicle.
As a genuine VCDS owner RossTech will give you email support to let you know what you need to note or advise if above will help you, I lack experience to guide you on the pitfalls/outcome of factory reset ...

I feel a bit stupid now before the updates to access "Version" function I needed to press CAR ant then lover right button. Now it changed the location. Now it's located under CAR-SETUP-Settings. Don't ask me how I missed that - I don't know. I was looking everywhere before and didn't see it

    So all good now

    Thanks for your help
