It is a 2.5 TDI SE auto.

The engine runs fine and pulls well when it is in higher revs but the problem is that from idle it takes a couple of seconds to start moving, i.e. once revs have picked up.

This is a tad dangerous as, especially at roundabouts, pulling away is too slow

Any help or advice on what it could be or what to check for?

    thanks

When was the oil last changed in the multitronic box? Should be every 40K but some recommend 20K

I assume you are saying that the engine is slow to rev not the gearbox is slow to respond.Suggest you get it checked on diagnostics for faults cos it sounds like an eletrical issue

It feel more like the box is slow to respond, the revs pick up, a bit slowly, but it doesnt pull instantly.

have you had the car long as this recently started . i used to own a4 2.5tdi quattro and the turbo lag was shocking nothing under 1800 to 2000 rpm then the turbo kicked in and it flew they takes some getting used to especially at junction and rounabouts

just got it today, its not turbo lag imo, it is literally stationary until the revs pick up.....

My box is getting ready for a change next service. The oil was changed just before I acquired the car and pulling away was fine but it is definitely slow first thing in the morning recently, especially on cold mornings. Once its warmed up its fine. Is yours behaving similarly?

The only other thing I can think of (we're nearing the envelope of my limited knowledge now) has it had a 7 clutch conversion (from the original, and problematic, 6 clutch unit. This was an Audi manufacturers fix for a design fault with the multitronic box. Your FSH should show if it has or not.
