Stupidly decided to clean out the dust from cluster!!
On reinstalling had a msg where the total mileage is... Fuse and after that safe.
Tried starting but died after two seconds.
Took out back on checking pins and contacts but at this point had the ignition on!!!

Tried resetting with removing batt terminals, now the central locking dont work and every time i get in car alarm goes off.

My little code reader found 4 faults relating to
    Drive train missing
    ac fuse
    coolant temp sensor
    and imobilizer?

Been advised again to check contact points again.

Dont know what else to do.

    1.9 130 avant (04)
    Based (stuck in shoreham)
    Near brighton

Why did i bother! Have done this b4 with no issues

What did you read the codes with? Are the leads plugged into the cluster fully? Take it out and make sure none of the pins are bent. Is the immobiliser light flashing?

To get the Central locking working, you switch on the ignition with the key you want to "enable", switch it off, remove the key and "lock" the car.

    Try the following as well:

    1. Disconnect both battery & connect battery leads (short them) with a jumper wire - removes any residual curent. Wait 5-10 minutes.
    2. Reconnect battery, place key in ignition & initiate reprogramming sequence.
    3. Sequence = turn key to "ON" position only, wait 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times.

    * you can also try pressing the unlock buttons, both on the fob while in the ignition & the door button.
Hold each for 5-10 seconds while key is "ON", both individually & together during each "on-off" sequence.

You could also check the cables from the immobiliser - though unlikely to be the cause.

    W.

Your problem is alsmot definetly the immobiliser. I get the same if car is started with valet key - runs for 2 sec then cuts off. Also, if you put your key in ignition while holding 'unlock' then move to ignition on for 2 sec then back of and take the key out. At the point when you take the key out release 'unlock'. This programs the key. Otherwise, you have to disconnect the battery for reset then once reconnected repeat above.

    Hope it helps

Do a cold boot. Take both terminals off the battery and hold them together for 30 seconds or so. Then leave them off for half an hour. Connect them and see if the car starts. If not you'll need a scan done
