For all you passat owners out there thinking about a remap. Just had my tdi 130 done at 98k and the difference is great. Car now pulls in 5th at 80 like it did in third at 60. Fuel economy has gone up a little when I drive it as normal (45 to 47) all for £179
Money definitely well spent, if you are thinking about having it done dont hesitate.

Can you have this done to the 1.8 T 150bhp and would it make much difference?

Yes it will give fantastic results on your car. I have had a drive in an octavia vrs (Same capacity engine as yours with 180bhp standard) re mapped to 225bhp went like F@#£k

Check out sp tuning based in conventry for details. Jamie says the re map adds 35hp and 5o lbft to my tdi 130.
He even came to me in Nottingham at no extra charge and did the work for under £200

I am very tempted, but does this have any disadvantages??

How about wear and tear or additional stress on the car?

Serviced correctly there should be no dis advantages. Manufacturers turn down the power an engine can produce reliably to allow for lapsed servicing and lower fuel grades ie 92 ron fuel when it should be 95 etc.
There are plenty of inferior cars such as escort rs turbos which produce far more power than stock. I owned last year a fiesta rs turbo chipped to 165bhp it was a little flying machine and reliable too

Hmm.. I'm tempted, but I don't want to ruin my nice Passat.

I'll look in to it though, that's not too bad a price.
