While driving this morning I noticed smoke coming from the bonnet, I quickly pulled over and lifted the bonnet to find oil pouring out from the side of the engine. The source of the leak is a small rubber plug of some sort that goes into the side of the engine block near the distributor cap, I am not sure what this is?
I was hoping somebody can tell me what it is and whether it can be easily replaced or is it a job for a mechanic. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
My car is a 1997 Mk3 Golf 1.6 GL (AFT Engine)

    Thanks

Here is a link to a picture, it's the rubber connector with the wire coming out of it with tissue under it.

Now I know what it is, is it difficult to replace and roughly how much does a replacement cost.

Thanks to both of you for your help, I feared it was going to be a costly repair. I will order one tomorrow and get it replaced. Thanks again..

I changed the Oil Pressure sender yesterday, no problems at all..10 minutes is all it took. Unplug the wire, unscrew (anti-clockwise) and replace. a tip to anyone who is going to change this part, you will need a 24mm deep socket or ring spanner...you will not do it with a normal socket due to the shape of the part, I had to borrow one from a friend.
I have a Haynes manual but could not see any reference to a Oil Pressure Sender in there. Is it under a different name in manual??
Once again thanks to BigCol and Doctle Odd for there knowledge and help.
