I've been in touch with Mackie Transmissions and they can drain the whole box inc the TC, they said they aren't sure about the transfer box but would have a look, no doubt that will add quite a bit more ££.. Would have to make a weekend of it though.. B'ham > Glasgow!

I booked in with Mackie Transmissions today weirdly, they have agreed to do the tightening sequence for me at no extra charge, total cost is £330 inc.

Not having it done until August though, so will pop up for the Merchant City Festival at the same time.

The said they couldn't do the Transfer box, which reading this predominently American thread seems to be quite easy:

Yeah that's the price I got too so at least they are consistent! - tightening sequence, do you mean torque up the mechatronic unit? then the diagonal tightening on the sump?

I'll have to see what's on in Glasgow so I can go up for another reason other than an oil change. Wish there was someone in the Midlands.

Ask them for a tour of the shop while you are there. It's very interesting and they have some great machines.

Unlikely they have the special pump that Mackie use to get a complete oil change but worth asking.

Anyone else found a cheaper alternative for the transfer oil? I found only the Ravenol TF-0870 but does not meet the same Audi number.

Finally after my mechanic's advise to use the Audi fluid for the transfer box, I ordered one litre of G055145A2 for €116! Had it changed this morning (took 0,6 L) and also the front and rear differential fluids. For both used the Ravenol 75W-90 fluid (used app. 2,5 L). Old fluid in all three was very dark and I'm glad I had them changed as I'm going to keep this car for at least another 5 years. I noticed smoother gear changes.

Are you sure you didn't add an extra 1 by mistake?
