    Hi peeps ...

What is the "Coding II" of your engine module / ECU / Module 01 ...

Mine is all zero's... which usually means not coded correctly...

    Here's the advanced ID...

Here's VCDS log of that section as well...

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail!
    Part No SW: 4F0 910 401 A HW: 4F0 907 401 A
    Component: 3.0L V6TDI G000AG 0020
    Revision: --H01--- Serial number:
    Coding: 0011372
    Shop #: WSC 06256 200 1048576
    VCID: 1A31F983D58873C8CF8

    No fault code found.
    Readiness: 0 0 0 0 0

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Here's another image to ref...

Now here's the original VCDS log before I had the ECM software update (downgrade)...

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail!
    Part No SW: 4F0 910 401 L HW: 4F0 907 401 A
    Component: 3.0L V6TDI G000AG 0040
    Revision: --H01--- Serial number:
    Coding: 0011772
    Shop #: WSC 02334 785 00200
    VCID: 254BDA7FECFA26C

    No fault code found.
    Readiness: 0 0 0 0 0

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reasoning for the update (downgrade) was mine is a very early 3.0 TDi without DPF, I have a idle issue an Audi TPI/TSB suggests fix is change to SW: 4F0 910 401 A originally my car was SW: 4F0 910 401 L and if you look at ECU label photo that's what it was from the factory...

Are you well probably not as much as I am! ... any welcome... and thanks fellow members ...

After mulling over all past data I could relating to my issue the TSB was not applicable to my car...

So the downgrade of ECU software was not the fix...

Now I will be investigating how to get it reverted to original one...

3.0 l V6 TDI; brief engine speed fluctuations after the start.

    Technical background

The throttle valve is quickly closed after the start. This leads to a greater exhaust gas recirculation
volume and brief idle speed fluctuations.

    Production change

Engine software updated from Chassis No. 4F*5N104874
So if your VIN is higher than xxxxxx4Fx5N104874 it does not apply to vehicle, mine is the range of xxxxxx4Fx6Nxx4999...

Most of the time software update TSBs become obsolete because a new/revised part number has been manufactured. For example if you install the newer: glow plugs or BD injectors or CR rail regulator or AT oilchange you HAVE to be to the latest software possible. Otherwise you are going to drive the new/revised parts using the old software which was written in order to correct the problems with the old parts - NOT a good idea, at least some side effect will be inevitable!
Therefore my advice is to update to the latest possible software, having in mind that you have already changed a lot of the main parts with the present state index version.
    wish you LUCK!

I agree fully mate ... I already had the lastest part no/rev of software for ECU... but sometimes the easy fixes are so enticing!...

I never gave A8 my VIN nor did he ask , I never cross ref'ed VIN myself ... my head was really boggled with all that has been going...

An easy human mistake on my part and will learn from it ...

I find it easier to answer a question than sometimes to help myself as my emotions cloud my mind ....

I made the choice so it rest on my shoulders ... this post is not directed at anyone but just as my own statement on the forum ...
