    Hi

What you are describing was happening to me a time back to. cold/warm engine /no typical rpm .. it just cuts on acceleration. Viewing the trip computer one could see the current fuel consumption was 0.0 - even while my foot was buried to the floor. Clutch in/out and it was back.. So the error had to be electrical.
There was no error message to be found in any self diagnostics .. no engine light / error lights. Sometime after this started to happend, the engine warning light appeared. And it would go away , and come back.

I got hold of someone with vcds - and the result was an error on the "G450 exhaust pressure sensor":Signal High.
New part - 10 min job to change, and no problem since.

You could google it and see if these characteristics also apply too your car.

    Regards Vareir

You need to do some logging of sensors within the engine etc, to see if anything points to the limp mode, by your analysis.
