    Hi,
I've had a new pressure sensor fitted to my golf today and the engine management light has now gone out. I gave the other two still on, glow plug and DPF. The car had a basic scan done and "08194 P2002 particulate trap bank1, efficiency below threshold" was up on the code reader. It wasn't a vag scanner used. The codes wouldn't clear, now the sensor is replaced the car is flat as a pancake and is very slow. I'm guessing the particulate filter is totally clogged?? I don't know too much about fault codes but if someone could advise me as to what that code basically means and is a new Dpf a viable proposition, any advice would be appreciated!
    thanks

Remove the DPF and get a remap. Job done.

I take it you do a lot of town driving?

Just bought it with the light on, bargain price. I do quite a few miles and didn't really want to map it. Not quite sure what the fault code is suggesting though? Any ideas?

Probably a DPF pressure sensor as they are common as muck to fail.

Without being scanned with vcds I don't know for sure.

    Where abouts are you?

Well, I've had the sensor under the bonnet replaced today as it had been disconnected. Now the glow plug light is flashing, when the pressure sensor was disconnected the car was very quick as if there were no problems with it... Are there more sensors? Would a proper vag scan be best? I'm in Essex, and this is my first mkv coming from years of mk1vs gt tdi's

really like the 170, am tempted to just replace the Dpf as I'll do lots of miles.

    What sensor did you replace?

I'm pret sure there is a sensor in the exhaust somewhere related to DPF as I had the same glowplug flashing/engine light on my A3 and Audi said it was a pig of a job to replace as the sensor was in an awkward place.

Yes, a scan with vcds will tell you exactly what's going on.

Look at the vcds link in my signature for local users.

Make sure the exhuast pressure sensor is the correct part as there are different versions. You may also need a software update which is available from VW.

Get a proper diagnosis carried out as they can check the software version also.

    Hi Chaps
Car is now sorted, took it to a local vw specialist and they reprogrammed the sensor via vcds in to the ecu and all the lights went out! Now have full power and no flashing dash lights.
    Well pleased..
    Cheers for your input

Good news - yes all new exhaust pressure sensors have to be put through basic settings to calibrate them.
