Hi, i have just bought a 2005 A6 saloon and have bought some aftermarket LED taillights for it. I fitted them yesterday and I'm having problems getting them to work properly. All of the lights work apart from the brake lights. The high level brake light still works bit the ones in the clusters don't. I obviously get the brake light bulb out warning on the dash but also get a warning that the n/s/r light is out, although that is working. i was told when I bought them that they were just plug and play,so are these a faulty set or do I need to get the car coded for them to work? If the car needs to be coded can it be done by Vagcom or do I have to take it to Audi? I have been trawling the internet all morning but don't seem to be able to find a definitive answer!
    Thanks in advance

Can't say for sure as these are after market and may be different but if you fit original LED rear lights you do have to change the coding (adaptation) using VCDS to make them work.

You add this to the adaptation for standard rear lights (from Ross Tech Wiki) +0131072 = Highline (LED Rear Lights)

You need to enable the Highline coding in vcds for them to work even with aftermarket units

Ok,thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I'm going to have to find someone around here that has vcds. It's really annoying as when I bought them I was assured that they were plug and play!

Thats great thanks. It would seem that Longman is the nearest person to me. If you could PM him I would really appreciate it. I bought them from a reputable Porsche Specialist and specifically asked if they would work straight from the box! Either they didn't know themselves or they just wanted the sale, either way I won't be back there in a hurry.I drove 40 miles to collect them so I could fit them this weekend as well!!!

Just a quick update, I have sorted the problem now.It turns out that it was the exact opposite to what you guys said. I found a local guy with VCDS and my car was already set to Highline for LED lights,as my old lights were the genuine ones with LED brake lights. When the car was coded to standard lights,Lowline, the new lights worked. I take back what I said about the supplier as these would've actually been Plug & Play if I had normal lights as standard.
