    Hi all,

I was due to get a remap done by Flash Remapping a month or so ago, then postponed due to the fact that I had to have knee surgery which meant I couldn't drive for 8 weeks. Now I'm ok I'm going to get it done after Christmas but it seems I have the dreaded injector problem (blue smoke on idle). Will getting a remap create more problems and speed the problem up or does it not matter?

I want to sort the injector problem out but the car seems to drive faultlessly, but I know it needs sorting.

    Thanks

Have you confirmed the injectors are faulty?

There is a lot of injector-itis going about atm so get it confirmed first of all.

You may find they won't touch the car if its not 100% healthy.

x2, I spoke to a remapper thinking they could solve an issue with my car by a remap... they replied if car not fit then no go... I was with that as how I see it is if you going to push engine further it needs to be right in first place...

Agree with the principal that's if its not 100% then not to tinker with it, I did have it MOT'd and serviced, they didn't confirm what injector was faulty but could confirm that diesel was in the oil sump and that it was over the max level (I haven't topped it up).

So reading your past posts you have 3.0 TDi... 2006... read this post here for mo ... Link:- A6 3.0 TDi Smoking at Idle - Injector Failure?

So you've bought recently what was oil level like then?

You did a post concerning smoke from exhausts... still occurring? get worse?

Now ref this for a mo... Link:- 2004 Audi A8 3.0L TDI Quattro - Fuel Injectors - White Smoke from Exhaust

I've had smoke like that twice (the ones in photos)... the video is what I consider normal for cold start/morning/looks vapour I get that occasionally... most of the time I get none...

You need VCDS/Diagnostic scan looking at operation of injectors to confirm wear... I've read they can test oil to check fuel content in it... been busy with other stuff to check how/where it done...

Have a read of post 199 onwards here to confirm what rev/date of injectors you have... Link:- BMK 3.0 TDi hunting erratic idle revs ( Have I got the most lemon A6!!! ) - Page 20

Cheers Gup, helpful as always. When I first bought the car I filled up with poor quality diesel and it was more white/grey. Now its blue after idle so the evidence suggests, along with the fuel in the sump that it is an injector. When I bought the car, the oil was at max, 2 months later it was still at Max, so somethings not quite right..

The blue smoke does disappear once the car gets going though. Still, would like to know if a remap is possible

Even though I call my car Zesty the A6 since owning now for about 15 months (11K miles) I've only topped up once, which was yesterday about 200 -300 ml... oil change is about 8.x L so not that much... I put it down to the new chains in July/Aug prior to that never a drop up or down...

if the remapper is willing to map it with a known fault of any kind walk away. They will make things a whole lot worse, fix the problem then find another mapper.
